Therizinosaurus had claws up to a metre long — the largest claws of any known animal — on a creature that was, despite appearances, an herbivore. They were almost certainly used to pull down vegetation. A terrifying tool for a peaceful purpose.
Appearances can be profoundly misleading about intent.
